Researchers seek help identifying slaves

WASHINGTON - Almost two centuries before there was a man named Obama in the White House, there was a man named Obama shackled in the bowels of a slave ship.

There is no proof that the unidentified Obama has ties to President Barack Obama. All they share is a name. But that is exactly the commonality that Emory University researchers hope to build upon as they delve into the origins of Africans who were taken up and sold.

They have built an online database around those names, and they welcome input from people who may share a name that's in the database or have such names as part of their family lore.

"The whole point of the project is to ask the African diaspora, people with any African background, to help us identify the names because the names are so ethno-linguistically specific, we can actually locate the region in Africa to which the individual belonged on the basis of the name," said David Eltis, an Emory University history professor who heads the database research team.

So far, two men named Obama sit among some 9,500 captured Africans whose names were written on line after line in the registries of obscure, 19th-century slave-trafficking courts. The courts processed the human chattel freed from ships that were intercepted and detoured to Havana, Cuba or Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Most of the millions of Africans enslaved before 1807 were known only by numbers, said James Walvin, an expert on the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Once bought by slave owners, the Africans' names were lost. Africans captured by the Portuguese were baptized and given "Christian" names.

But original African names -- surnames were uncommon for Africans in the 19th century -- are rich with information. Some reveal the day of the week an individual was born or whether that individual was the oldest, youngest or middle child or a twin. They can also reveal ethnic or linguistic groups.

The president's father was from Kenya, on the eastern coast of Africa, and Eltis said it was rare for captives to hail from areas far from the port where their ships set sail.

The unidentified Obamas on the slave ships sailed from western Africa. Walvin, author of "The Zong," a book about the slave trade, said there were Africans who had been brought great distances before they were forced onto ships.

"Often their enslavement had begun much earlier, deep in the African interior, most of them captured through acts of violence, warfare or kidnap, or for criminal activity," Walvin said in his book.

Obama's ancestors, a people known as the River Lake Nilotes, migrated from Bahr-el-Ghazal Province in Sudan toward Uganda and into Western Kenya, according to Sally Jacobs, author of "The Other Barack," a book about the president's father. They were part of several clans and su
bclans that eventually became the Luo people of Kenya, Jacobs writes.

FBI used outreach to gain info on Muslims

WASHINGTON - Heavily blacked-out internal FBI documents released Thursday indicate that the FBI, in some cases between 2007 and 2009, ran background checks on people they encountered at Muslim-related events and recorded personal information such as e-mail addresses, phone numbers, physical descriptions and opinions in reports marked "routine."

The American Civil Liberties Union, which obtained the documents under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, accused the FBI of misusing its community-outreach programs to collect information on people at Muslim-related events that the FBI organized or was invited to attend. Those programs were intended to improve the relationship between Muslims and the FBI.

The bureau said some of the documents the ACLU published were not derived from outreach programs but were from actual criminal investigations in which it was appropriate to include specific details such as a driver's license number.

The blacked-out parts make it difficult to understand what the reports represent. But the disclosure comes at a time when the FBI has been criticized for some of its other programs, straining the fragile relationship between law enforcement and Muslims who widely believe they are subjected to surveillance and scrutiny because of their religion.

The ACLU said the FBI never told Muslims at outreach events such as job fairs, religious dinners or community meetings that it would record in government files the details about the events or who attended them.

The FBI's Community Outreach Program predates the terrorist attacks of September 2001 and is designed to improve the public's trust in the bureau and build partnerships. After the attacks, federal, state and local government officials stepped up this type of outreach to Muslim communities. Agents who attend such official events are instructed to file reports for what the FBI described as "internal oversight purposes."

Separate from outreach programs, FBI agents who are investigating a person or group may do their own outreach as part of the investigation, said Jeff Mazanec, deputy assistant director of public affairs, who oversees the official program. But that is kept separate from what a community-outreach coordinator does, he said.

What happened to Black political power?

by William Reed

In 1964, Malcolm X said, "Anytime you throw your weight behind a political party...and that party can’t keep promises that it made...and you’re dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify with that political party, you’re not only a chump, but a traitor to your race."

So what do you think Malcolm X would say to radio host Tom Joyner’s "plea to the Black man" blog statement: "Let’s not deal with the facts right now...let’s just deal with our Blackness and pride – and loyalty. We have a chance to re-elect the first African-American president, and that’s what we ought to be doing...because he’s a Black man"?

What has Obama done?
Fifty years after Malcolm X preached Black Power and its concepts of economic and political equity, a Black family resides in the White House. People like Joyner want to keep them there without posing the ultimate question: "What have you done for me lately?"
Malcolm X’s "by any means necessary" pledge to Black equality holds great sway in the Black Power psyche. For Joyner to be willing to overlook the fact that Black Americans have the lowest average income of any large racial group in the nation, are incarcerated at alarmingly high rates, and are still segregated and profiled just to get Obama re-elected is a disservice to Black political empowerment. Wouldn’t Malcolm suggest that African-Americans take stock of what the Obamas being in the White House has accrued?

Issues in forefront
At the basis of political struggle are economic interests. The economic interests of Black Americans are not mutually aligned with the Democrats or the Republicans. In areas of social justice, economic development and public safety, the vast gulf between what is needed and what is provided from government demands re-evaluation.
President Obama’s tone toward Blacks’ problems is for us to "stop whining." And Herman Cain says to the Black and poor that "if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself!" African-Americans are a racial minority in a country where racism is a fact of life. Black-oriented issues are regularly put on the back burner. It makes sense to form African-American interest groups who are willing to bring our issues to the forefront of American political discourse.

Things can change for us, if we make a point of consolidating our own political voting power. Black Americans can no longer complain about how we are treated without adopting tried and true methods to take political power. Identifying with Black culture is necessary. Being part of a 2012 Black voting bloc would be a bold move to put balance back in the American political landscape leading up to the presidential election.
Some Black Americans will like lemmings go the Joyner "Keep a Black Man president" route. In contrast, others will become forces that make their own political fortunes.

Fifty-state strategy
The Black Political Party Media Fund is a Washington, D.C.-based 527 organization of note that is laying the foundation for a ticket of Black Power proponents to get on all 50 state ballots in 2012 and compete in a serious way with Barack and the Democrats and whomever the GOP nominates. For those able to think and act outside the mainstream ‘box,’ Black-oriented political pursuits can provide purpose, vision, and hope.

The Black Power 527 is paying petition gatherers in several states and working on a website and strategy that enables millions of people to conduct a "virtual primary" in mid-2012. The Black Political Party Media Fund’s projects include reaching out to Facebook and Twitter users to advocate Black Power objectives over their networks and in their various locales. The group seeks citizen journalists ready to advocate African-Americans’ interests and points of view.
The organization is seeking paid staffers and volunteers to work in every state Senate district in the country and on HBCU college campuses signing up ‘delegates’ to a Black Party convention. The Business Exchange is accepting inquiries at Busxchng@his.com .

Heavy D gone to soon

Artist and Hip Hop Legend Heavy D, the self-proclaimed "overweight lover" of hip-hop, who became one of rap's biggest stars in the 1980s, has died aged 44.

He died on Tuesday after being found unconscious at his Los Angeles home.

Born Dwight Arrington Myers in Jamaica in 1967, Heavy D found fame with his band "The Boyz", scoring hits with such tracks as Now That We Found Love.

He appeared on Michael Jackson's 1991 song Jam and recently performed at the singer's tribute concert in Cardiff.

"My heart goes out to the family and [loved] ones of Heavy D," tweeted Jackson's sister La Toya, who appeared with Heavy D at the event on 8 October.

The charismatic MC was more often a seducer and a comedian. "What's it going to be, me or the TV?" he chided his lover on Now That We Found Love, his biggest UK hit.

With his band, The Boyz, he set the tone for New Jack Swing - sparse production, big R&B hooks and metallic drum loops - paving the way for the likes of Bobby Brown and Blackstreet.

Three of his albums - Big Tyme (1989), Peaceful Journey (1991) and Nuttin' but Love (1994) - went platinum in the US.

In the early 1990s, he duetted with the likes of Notorious BIG and Janet Jackson, cheekily branding the latter "a walking bank vault" on her hit single.

His acting career took off, with appearances on TV shows such as Law & Order: SVU and Boston Public in the early 2000s.

He also made select film appearances, with roles in The Cider House Rules and, most recently, alongside Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy in the comedy Tower Heist.

However, he continued to create music and his last album, Love Opus, was considered a return to form when it was released in September this year.

Rapper Ice T was among the rapper's peers expressing condolences, saying he felt "sick" at the news of the Heavy D's death.

"Stop for a second, take a breath and realize how lucky you are to be alive," he wrote after hearing the news.

"We had a lot of great times touring together," tweeted MC Hammer. "He had a heart of gold."

According to Lt Mark Rosen of the Beverly Hills police, the rapper experienced breathing difficulties while returning home from shopping.

After collapsing in an exterior hallway, he was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center where he later died.

The musician is survived by family members including his daughter Xea.

Heavyweight Champ Joe Frazier, Dies at 67

Joe Frazier, the former heavyweight champion whose furious and intensely personal fights with a taunting Muhammad Ali endure as an epic rivalry in boxing history, died Monday night. He was 67.

Known as Smokin’ Joe, Frazier stalked his opponents around the ring with a crouching, relentless attack — his head low and bobbing, his broad, powerful shoulders hunched — as he bore down on them with an onslaught of withering jabs and crushing body blows, setting them up for his devastating left hook.

It was an overpowering modus operandi that led to versions of the heavyweight crown from 1968 to 1973. Frazier won 32 fights in all, 27 by knockouts, losing four times — twice to Ali in furious bouts and twice to George Foreman. He also recorded one draw.

A slugger who weathered repeated blows to the head while he delivered punishment, Frazier proved a formidable figure. But his career was defined by his rivalry with Ali, who ridiculed him as a black man in the guise of a Great White Hope. Frazier detested him.

Ali vs. Frazier was a study in contrasts. Ali: tall and handsome, a wit given to spouting poetry, a magnetic figure who drew adulation and denigration alike, the one for his prowess and outsize personality, the other for his antiwar views and Black Power embrace of Islam. Frazier: a bull-like man of few words with a blue-collar image and a glowering visage who in so many ways could be on an equal footing with his rival only in the ring.

Frazier won the undisputed heavyweight title with a 15-round decision over Ali at Madison Square Garden in March 1971, in an extravaganza known as the Fight of the Century. Ali scored a 12-round decision over Frazier at the Garden in a non-title bout in January 1974. Then came the Thrilla in Manila championship bout, in October 1975, regarded as one of the greatest fights in boxing history. It ended when a battered Frazier, one eye swollen shut, did not come out to face Ali for the 15th round.

The Ali-Frazier battles played out at a time when the heavyweight boxing champion was far more celebrated than he is today, a figure who could stand alone in the spotlight a decade before an alphabet soup of boxing sanctioning bodies arose, making it difficult for the average fan to figure out just who held what title.

The rivalry was also given a political and social cast. Many viewed the Ali-Frazier matches as a snapshot of the struggles of the 1960s. Ali, an adherent of the Nation of Islam, came to represent rising black anger in America and opposition to the Vietnam War. Frazier voiced no political views, but he was nonetheless depicted, to his consternation, as the favorite of the establishment. Ali called him “ignorant,” likened him to a gorilla and said his black supporters were Uncle Toms.

“Frazier had become the white man’s fighter, Mr. Charley was rooting for Frazier, and that meant blacks were boycotting him in their heart,” Norman Mailer wrote in Life magazine following the first Ali-Frazier bout.

Frazier, wrote Mailer, was “twice as black as Clay and half as handsome,” with “the rugged decent life-worked face of a man who had labored in the pits all his life.”

Frazier could never match Ali’s charisma or his gift for the provocative quote. He was essentially a man devoted to a brutal craft, willing to give countless hours to his spartan training-camp routine and unsparing of his body inside the ring.

“The way I fight, it’s not me beatin’ the man: I make the man whip himself,” Frazier told Playboy in 1973. “Because I stay close to him. He can’t get out the way.” He added: “Before he knows it — whew! — he’s tired. And he can’t pick up his second wind because I’m right back on him again.”

In his autobiography, “Smokin’ Joe,” written with Phil Berger, Frazier said his first trainer, Yank Durham, had given him his nickname. It was, he said, “a name that had come from what Yank used to say in the dressing room before sending me out to fight: ‘Go out there, goddammit, and make smoke come from those gloves.’ “

Since 1914..Time is UP.

The chances of a new U.S. recession are rising rapidly as employment and housing remain depressed and Europe's debt crisis threatens to spill over, according to a number of prominent economists.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Tuesday described the recovery as "close to faltering," economists at Goldman Sachs said the United States is on "the edge" of recession, and forecasters at the Economic Cycle Research Institute said the country's economy was "tipping" into another downturn.

Bernanke delivered the warning in testimony to the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, saying the Fed — the U.S. central bank — is prepared to do more to support the recovery.

Message from Troy Anthony Davis

To All:

I want to thank all of you for your efforts and dedication to Human Rights and Human Kindness, in the past year I have experienced such emotion, joy, sadness and never ending faith. It is because of all of you that I am alive today, as I look at my sister Martina I am marveled by the love she has for me and of course I worry about her and her health, but as she tells me she is the eldest and she will not back down from this fight to save my life and prove to the world that I am innocent of this terrible crime.

As I look at my mail from across the globe, from places I have never ever dreamed I would know about and people speaking languages and expressing cultures and religions I could only hope to one day see first hand. I am humbled by the emotion that fills my heart with overwhelming, overflowing Joy. I can’t even explain the insurgence of emotion I feel when I try to express the strength I draw from you all, it compounds my faith and it shows me yet again that this is not a case about the death penalty, this is not a case about Troy Davis, this is a case about Justice and the Human Spirit to see Justice prevail.

I cannot answer all of your letters but I do read them all, I cannot see you all but I can imagine your faces, I cannot hear you speak but your letters take me to the far reaches of the world, I cannot touch you physically but I feel your warmth everyday I exist.

So Thank you and remember I am in a place where execution can only destroy your physical form but because of my faith in God, my family and all of you I have been spiritually free for some time and no matter what happens in the days, weeks to come, this Movement to end the death penalty, to seek true justice, to expose a system that fails to protect the innocent must be accelerated. There are so many more Troy Davis’. This fight to end the death penalty is not won or lost through me but through our strength to move forward and save every innocent person in captivity around the globe. We need to dismantle this Unjust system city by city, state by state and country by country.

I can’t wait to Stand with you, no matter if that is in physical or spiritual form, I will one day be announcing,

“I AM TROY DAVIS, and I AM FREE!”

Never Stop Fighting for Justice and We will Win!

Aisha Gadhafi speaks to the world.

"I carry the blood of a heroic father in my veins and I have never known the idea of surrender"

Message from Aisha Gadhafi, September 3, 2011:

"Even if my father and my brothers are martyred, I will continue my fight against Islamic terrorists in Libya.

Soon, I will appear in the media to announce the fight against terrorists and Al-Qaeda in Libya and other countries in the world.

Let the West and their mercenaries take note; Aisha Gadhafi will never surrender to their conspiracy of evil.

I carry the blood of a heroic father in my veins and I have never known the idea of surrender.

NATO and Western assassins killed my husband and my child. But they must know by now that Aisha Gadhafi is a soldier.

Even at the cost of my own life, I will free my country from the clutches of Islamic terrorists and Al Qaeda."

* * * *

Aisha Gadhafi is elegant, well educated; smart enough to cope with any international community. Born in 1976 she has accomplished so much in the international arena, including lately courageously facing the most adverse days of her loving father. Aisha Gadhafi really deserves admiration from everyone, especially women, that she stood up and fought and is still fighting.

Aisha, being trained in the Libyan army, got promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, which she is holding till date. She has been the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations, philanthropist, humanitarian and a lawyer by profession. She was appointed as the United Nations Development Program National ‎Goodwill Ambassador for Libya on July 24, 2009, primarily to address the issues of HIV/AIDS, poverty and women's rights in Libya, all of which are culturally sensitive topics in the country.

In February 2011 the United Nations stripped Aisha of her role as a goodwill ambassador. She was placed under a travel ban on February 26, 2011, under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1970. This resolution by UNSC as well as her exclusion from being the goodwill ambassador was politically motivated, as the United States and NATO were jointly supporting the rebels in Libya and they were wholeheartedly looking for the ouster of Muammar al-Gadhafi from the leadership in Libya.

Goodwill Ambassador is a collective term sometimes used as a substitute honorific title or a title of honor for an Ambassador of Goodwill; but, most appropriately for a generic recognition, it is a job position or description that is usually indicated following the name of the individual recognized in the position. Goodwill ambassadors generally deliver goodwill or promote ideals from one entity to another, or to a population. Aisha has served as a mediator on behalf of the government with European Union corporations.

In 2000 after sanctions were imposed on Iraq, Aisha Gadhafi arrived in Baghdad with a delegation of 69 officials. Shortly before the invasion of Iraq in 2003, she met with Saddam Hussein.

In 2011, she strongly protested the policies of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and U.S. President Barack Obama, calling for a mediation of the Libyan Civil War through an international organization. She vehemently opposed the anti-Saddam offensives of President George W Bush in Iraq and Aisha had been consistently a supporter of Democrats in United States.

After the recently NATO bomb attack on the compound of Muammar al-Gadhafi, Aisha sued NATO over the bombing of a building in Muammar al-Gadhafi's compound that killed her brother, Saif al-Arab Muammar al-Gadhafi, and her own infant daughter among the three grandchildren of her father who were killed. She claims the attack was illegal, as it was a civilian building.

Ms. Gadhafi's lawyers filed the petitions in Brussels and Paris in June 2011. However, on 27 July it was reported that Belgian prosecutors declined to investigate the war crimes complaint filed by al-Gadhafi against NATO [whose headquarters are in Belgium], saying that their country's universal competence law [requiring a connection between the complaint and Belgium] does not apply in the case.

Aisha Gadhafi's husband, Ahmed al-Gadhafi al-Qahsi, whom she married in 2006, was also killed by rebels on 26th July 2011.

When Muammar al-Gadhafi's compound in Libya was occupied by the rebels, Aisha Gadhafi's house also became a target of attack and looting. Personal belongings and valuables of Aisha were looted by the rebels. Some of the rebels drank and danced in the living room in the house and few of them went to her personal bedroom and had sex with a few Nigerian women they brought from Benghazi. At least 90 Nigerian girls were captured from several whorehouses in Benghazi by the rebels, who were later forced to have sex with the Libyan rebels.

Leader of the Green Committees Movement Addresses the World

From the international liaison office of the Green Committees Movement

Oppressed people around the world, the battle has begun. Do not despair, help is nigh. Do you realize that this is the Night of Power? What is the Night of Power? It is better than thousands of other nights, it is the destiny, when the heavens are open to receive your prayers thousands fold.

Watch what is happening now in America. Did we hit them with our missiles? No, they came and struck us, 64 hits on Bab Al-Aziziya which is now destroyed, and finally I had to leave my home, where they killed many innnocents. But I will never leave Libya and in this fight, it is either victory or death.

Those of you in United States of America. I am not your leader. If you are in that failed state you should be preparing to leave. Go to Venezuela. If you remain, you must follow my deputy, spiritual leader Minister Louis Farrakhan. Listen to him. He will tell you all you need to know about what is unfolding.

Those of you in Europe, you too should prepare to be drowned in events and calumny. Not enough of you have risen up. You will have to accept the consequences, the good among you should head to Africa. Go to west Africa. North Africa is not safe now that the region is all a battle field. In West Africa you will find homes and good work.

Those of you in Serbia, true friends of Libya, and you are with me. Do not despair of the rat flag on only one house out of one million. All of you can cut pieces of green cloth, measured exactly two by one in dimension, that is your flag, the flag of people's power, of hope, of truth, of the future.

All you in the world who support truth, freedom, Jamahiriya, hang it on millions homes, cars. The green flag is yours and belongs to all the masses of the world. With the dawn of people's authority and the end of governments, we chose the green flag and made its colour and dimension easy for all. Choose any green. Cut it one by two, exactly, and hang it everywhere, carry it with you.

Soon the green flag will fly all over the world, as governments collapse, they failed their people, I alone did more than all of them. They served different masters. They did not intend to serve the people, never. They are owned by others. They do nothing for you. Ignore them and they are gone. Prepare yourselves by forming committees, openly or in secret, set up your local mathabas to meet and share. Chart the way forward. The green flag belongs to you all.

The future is jamahiriya, everywhere. Masses self-governing societies. Basic popular congresses and people's committees. Green committees to guide, defend, expose, call, show the way forward to people's power. It's all there in The Green Book, read it, copy it, share it. Use your own communication systems, don't rely on the enemy. Make your own communications. Take back your resources to your hands, do not be afraid of power, possess it. It is your power, wealth and arms that the governments, banks and militaries stole from you.

You cannot ask others to represent you. You cannot entrust theives with your wealth. You cannot ask others to fight and die on your behalf, to defend you. This your human responsibility, when you do this, the world will be free, organized, jamahiri system, freedom and happiness, abundance of wealth for all.

The era of the governments is coming to an end and they are fighting their last gasp. They are desperate. But they are bankrupt, not only financially speaking, they are bankrupt in morals, religion, education, intellect, ideas, they have no way forward. They are on the stage of collapse. That collapse is good for the world peoples who are suffering because they are not free.

O all good people of the world, know that Islam is not what is being put to you by the ignorant who make a public show of prayer but in reality are serving the devil. Islam is submission to the will of Allah, the One God of all humanity. This is the night of prayer. Your prayers are being answered. You are the Muslims, all those who pray and do not associate partners with Allah.

People of Bosnia, many of you are misguided, Arabs, the useless and weak. The people of Serbia who are Christians and others would be closer to God. There is only one God. That God is with the truth wherever it is found, read Qur'an to know the truth, do not listen to those who would mislead you. If God is with you, who can be against you?

What Sharia are you looking for other than the one which we have since I was the first to bring Quran as the Law of Society in the Jamahiriya. Is it the sharia of injustice? Oppression? Cowardice? Murder? Insanity? Drugs? Is it the sharia that elevates the rat with his gun that allows torture, rape, theft? No! That is not the sharia, ignoring all that is in the Quran.

Prayers are being answered. More than forty armies have gone against me, only because I spoke the truth, because I would not let the thieves pass me into Africa. I have promised Africa I will not betray you. I promise the world, the millions who have me in your hearts, that I am fighting to the finish.

Do not believe their trumpets. Whoever listens to the trumpets is making a mistake. You have your own mathabas to go to for information and to meet and deliberate. Pay no heed to them. By now this should be clear to you. Fire is water, water is fire. Know that the future is yours, governments are finished, a new era of the masses is coming, as predicted in The Green Book.

I hear you. Many of your messages reach to me. I cannot answer you individually but I feel your pain. Some of you were so affected by the lies in the recent days that you even contemplated suicide. No! No never, suicide is not an option, when we are in front of great victory. The costs will be high but we must not waver.

I see you Africans around the world, even in Australia, your pictures reach me. I see you collecting money for helping East Africa. It is the whites who brought these problems and cut us off from helping our brothers and sisters. Thank you for you prayers. But keep your money. Instead use it to fight those oppressors.

Form among you green committees, meet in secret or in open. Proclaim your allegiance to the green charter. Study The Green Book. Register your people's conferences, provide encouragement to others around the world, prepare for future world congress on crimes against humanity, you have six months to prepare.

March next year can be the biggest congress of the people, you can make it happen. Prepare already. Make a web site you must to make it, so all the crimes can be registered. While we fight to defend our nation, you fight on the battle field of truth, for the pen is mightier than the sword.

Some of you arrived to our western border, but had to return. You have families to take care of. Now the way is clear, but NATO will not allow for peace. They fear the example of the Great Jamahiriya. They can destroy our physical achievements but they cannot destroy the truth. The more they try the more we will be victorious, victory is with the people, never with the oppressors.

Thousands of you are waiting at various stations, I see you in Tanzania, in Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, and many other parts of Africa. How will you cross the deserts to Libya. Instead group yourselves where you are. The fight if it is not won in Libya will be coming to you. Prepare for it. Prepare traps for the invaders. You must defend your corners.

African governments are not strong. They control only a few centers of cities. They often provide no services and the people live without them. They will not stand in your way when the time comes. They are poor. They have been robbed by the racists, the colonialists, the white thieves from the north. Oppose them only if they oppose you. Be prepared. Build your mathaba. Defend your continent.

They can attack with their bombs, but we defend with truth. They can never fight us man to man. They are only cowards, sick, demented, hiding behind machines, they can never face the African one to one. African children can defeat any white mercenary, that is why they hide and destroy with hatred from far.

Do not let them use you. Be united. Build your defences for they are coming if they manage to pass Libya. If they destroy Libya then attack them from behind.

Avoid fighting if you can. The enemy wishes us all to be bogged down on their battle fields, that they want to engage us all in war. Afghanistan is now with us, Iraq is with us, Venezuela is with us. We want peace. We want justice. Work for conferences on crimes against humanity, use your mathaba networks, the mathaba are the headquarters of the green committees, go forth, victory is ours!

We only recognize one Libyan government, the one led by Muammar Gaddafi!"

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday he will only recognize a Libyan government led by his friend and ally Muammar Gaddafi and accused the United States of inciting the country's civil war.
Chavez, who has been the most vocal world leader to support Gaddafi, accused Western powers of riding roughshod over international law by backing Libya's rebels in their revolt.

"This is kicking, spitting on the most basic elements of international law," he said. "Where are the international rights? This is like the caveman era."

Venezuela's socialist leader spoke after new reports of rebels overrunning Gaddafi's compound in Tripoli. The reports showed images of flags that had easily been doctored to replace the green flags with the flag of rebels, a frequent occurrence which even has an entire film set in Qatar being used by Jazeera TV for the purpose.

During six months of NATO-led rebellion against Gaddafi more than 30 bankrupt countries of out 192 in the world, including the United States and major European Union countries, have moved to recognize the rebel al-Qaida dominated National Transitional Council as the governing authority in Libya.

"Now president Obama said he will collaborate economically with the 'new government', which of course we do not recognize," Chavez said. Economic collaboration means stealing Libya's abundant wealth that had been shared around Africa without any debt nor borrowing from banks, giving Libya the highest standard of living in Africa.

Libyan citizens enjoyed perks which are the dream of those in the west: free unlimited health and dental care, free unlimited funding for education anywhere in the world, rent-free house, $60,000 to couples upon getting married. This was carried out in line with the "Third Universal Theory" as explained in The Green Book which Colonel Muammar Qaddafi authored after leaving government in 1979.

According to this formula, all natural resources belong to everyone, so the oil and other assets of Libya, revenue is totalled each year, and then after expenditure on all required free education, health, married couples start-up boost, free electricity supply to each home, the remaining money is then divided by the entire population and deposited into their personal bank accounts -- currently around $500 free money each month, whilst they also may additionally earn from any work they do without this being affected.

"We only recognize one government, the one led by Muammar Gaddafi," Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said to applause as he presided over a cabinet meeting broadcast live on state TV.

The 57-year-old former soldier has repeatedly accused Western powers of fuelling the conflict to steal Libya's oil and on Tuesday said they were waging a "dogs' war."

"It's harsh but true ... They arranged this war," Chavez said, referring to the United States.

"They provided the arms, the mercenaries. They better not attempt to apply the Libyan formula to Venezuela or we'll have to show them our power."

Both Chavez and Gaddafi are anti-imperialist revolutionaries and forged a friendship during half a dozen encounters in the past decade.

Chavez studied Gaddafi's "Green Book" outlining his political philosophy while in the army, and both men have given each other numerous gifts and awards as signs of friendship and solidarity.

After Libya's assets abroad at the outset of the war on Libya earlier this year, including $32 billions ear-marked for the creation of an African Monetary Fund, African Central Bank, and African Investment Bank, which would have spelt the end of World Bank and International Monetary Fund control of the African continent, this September, Venezuela has set the way forward for other nations to withdraw funds from western banks as well as the gold reserves.

2012:The Quickening Has Begun

All around the planet hundreds of millions of people are waiting for events to unfold in the year 2012, that they… believe will bring either the birth of a harmonious new reality… or ‘the end of the world. But what if those events were actually to take place THIS YEAR, in 2011?

In Awakening As One's new film "The Quickening" we will explain why so many people have been experiencing the sensation that "Time is Speeding Up"; particularly since the Earthquake in Japan.

The Quickening will show how research indicates that this accelerated experience of reality could peak sometime around October 28th, 2011; culminating in a global experience of Unity Consciousness, which would then lead to the experience of a harmonious new way of being.

"The Quickening" will also take a look at the unfolding of current events and how they directly relate to Hopi and Mayan Prophecies, indicating that we are on the Cusp of Great Changes, which signify the shifting of the Age... and the Birth of a New World.

Millions March in Harlem (Aug 13, 2011)

Live Webcast @(12 Noon-EDT) Keynote speaker: the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Americans opposing the Western invasion of Libya and the oppression of African-Americans in both Africa and the United States plan to rally this weekend in Harlem at Malcolm X boulevard and 110th Street at 10am. The Millions March, organized by affiliates of the Nation of Islam and the December 12th Movement, is touted as a call to end the “sytematic assault of African communities.”

“NATO and America are trying to recolonize Africa through AFRICOM (African Command),” said Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam during a press conference at the UN Plaza Hotel in June. “My question to African leaders is ‘will you allow it?’ Out of fear of the so-called power of the West, will you bow down and act against the interest of African people world wide?” Minister Farrakhan has long been an ally of Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who Farrakhan said “has been a principal advocate and organizer for a United States of Africa which threatens the international power structure.”

Minister Farrakhan has been critical of President Obama, the United State’s first self-designated African-American president. “You better wake up, Black people, and not be deceived by the fact a Black man is in the White House. It’s great that he’s there, if what he does there helps us all,” he said in an interview with Donald Winkfield of Black Star News. “Now, he’s done something for Gays; he’s done something for Unions; he’s done something this one, something for that one… Let’s see what he does for Black people and for Africa.”

“There comes a time when people have no alternative but resistance,” said Viola Plummer, a voice in the December 12th Movement International Secretariat, regarding the Millions March. “This march will revitalize the Pan African movement. It will broaden our peoples’ world view and demonstrate the need for Africans to unite in our own political and economic interests internationally. We must expose the United Nations Security Council machinations, western imperialism, the attack on Black people in the US, and all collaborators at every turn.”

Riots Erupt In London After Police Shoot Black Man

Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old father of four, was fatally shot last Thursday night in North London’s Tottenham Hale section. Duggan, who was a passenger in a minicab at the time of the shooting, was initially stopped as a part of an initiative to recover illegal guns in the area. Although an illegal firearm was found at the scene and initial reports suggested a gun was fired at police, The Guardian asserts that ballistic reports now show that all of the gunfire came from police.

The Guardian reports:

Doubts have emerged over whether Mark Duggan, whose death at the hands of police sparked the weekend’s Tottenham riots, was killed during an exchange of fire .

The Guardian understands that initial ballistics tests on a bullet, found lodged in a police radio worn by an officer during Thursday’s incident, suggested it was police issue – and therefore had not been fired by Duggan.

After Duggan was shot, his family and the Tottenham community were in shock. A peaceful protest was planned for Friday evening, and the family wanted to meet with police officials to get answers about the shooting. However, police reps refused to meet with them and the protests turned violent.

The Guardian continues:

Community leaders said they warned Tottenham police immediately before Saturday’s rioting that a peaceful protest over the fatal shooting could get out of control. More than 100 people who demanded to see a senior officer at Tottenham police station feared that if they were still there by nightfall it could cause problems in an area with tensions running high.

“It is unforgivable police refused dialogue,” said Stafford Scott, a community organizer. We know the history here – how can Tottenham have a guy killed by police on Thursday, and resist requests for dialogue from the community 48 hours later?”

Since the riots began on Friday evening in Tottenham, they’ve spread throughout London. Houses, cars, and businesses have been burned and at least hundred of people have been arrested. Looters have been smashing their way into stores and stealing merchandise and groups of rioters have been attacking police. Groups of young people, who say they are fed up by the treatment they receive by police, having been driving the riots.

Home Secretary Theresa May returned from vacation early to address the growing violence.

San Francisco says: F*** the Police They Can't Shoot Us All

The sins of America are terrible. She has risen up in this part of the earth which was wilderness forsaken by all our people for thousands and thousands of years and was used for a kind of exile continent. The White man came out of Europe in desperation seeking a place to expand and began to kill the aboriginals of this continent (the Red Indian) and take their homes. This was one of her great sins.

The White man has left a remnant of that people for the sake of mockery and for his children to see the people their fathers conquered in taking this land of the Indians for their own land (as they call it today). God never intended that the people of the earth go about killing each other to rob each other of their homes. It was never done by anyone but the White race.
He was not satisfied in killing all the aboriginals here to take their homes but went back into the old world of Africa and Asia and deceived and brought our fathers here for no other purpose than to make them slaves and to experiment on them.

They have never been a friend to us, nor do they ever intend to be. They cannot be a friend because they were not created in any such nature to be a true friend to anyone, not even to themselves. Today she is being upset with wars, little scrimmages breaking out here and there over the earth keeping her busy running from one fire to the other trying to prevent the fire from spreading into a national or international fire.

She must get a taste of what she has put upon other people. Therefore, Almighty God Himself is stirring up the nations of the earth against her. And, as it is written, they shall come against her as she has gone against other people and taken away their wealth and brought it and poured it into her treasuries, so shall it be done to her.

Houston family living in Unit NEEDS our help

LOOK CLOSELY AT BOOK CHILD IS HOLDING IN PHOTO
By Anita Hassan

Tucked behind an iron gate at the end of a long gravel driveway in east Houston sits a small storage shed.

Outside, the corrugated steel structure is identical to the 76 others next to it, but the inside holds more than someone's possessions.

It is a home.

Inside the 12-by-25-foot shed are hand-built shelves where children's clothes are folded neatly next to canned goods, boxes of cereal and a stack of family photos. On another shelf, beside two king-size beds, textbooks lie next to board games.

Despite the cramped conditions, it overflows with love, said Charlomane Leonard, 35, as she stood in front of the shed that she, her husband, Prince Leonard, and six children have called home for years.

"That's what makes it comfortable," she said.

But to Child Protective Services, the shed is an unsafe environment for the children. After receiving a phone call about the Leonards' living conditions, agency caseworkers removed the couple's children last month.

The Leonards said their children were safe and happy and felt they were targeted by the agency because they are poor.

CPS spokeswoman Gwen Carter said poverty was not an issue and that the agency does not remove children from their parents' custody based on the family's economic circumstances, but on other factors such as unsafe living environments, abuse and neglect.

"You could live in a mansion and be in an unsafe living environment," Carter said. "It's not the place as much as it was the circumstances."

She said the agency uses removal only as a last resort, and that caseworkers try to help parents in need find ways to provide safe living conditions for their children. Carter said CPS was committed to helping the Leonards.

Hearing set for August
Prince Leonard and his wife said CPS caseworkers made one three-hour visit to their home and removed the children immediately.

"They didn't ask us if we needed help or anything," Charlomane Leonard said. "They just said, 'You can stay here, but your children can't.' "

Carter referred further questions to the court where the Leonards' case is being heard. No one at the court returned calls for comment Wednesday. The family is scheduled to appear in court again in August.

The agency, which was granted temporary custody of the children June 30, has placed them with their maternal grandparents. The Leonards are allowed to visit their children for only six hours a week, according to the couple.

"I really miss them," Charlomane Leonard said. "I'm used to being with them all day every day."

The couple has struggled to make ends meet since they married 14 years ago. Their situation got worse about four years ago, when they were living in an apartment in northeast Houston.

Prince Leonard, who now works as a welder, said the family was forced to move out of the crime-ridden apartment complex after he was hurt while working at a discount warehouse, and the couple could no longer afford the rent.

The family lived for a while in their pickup, parking in the Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital overnight, where security guards made them feel safe. They then resided at a Star of Hope shelter for three months before moving into the storage unit in the 12000 block of McNair, where they were already storing some of their belongings.

While it's small and can seem crowded, the Leonards said the storage shed is the safest place they've lived in a long time. Prince Leonard said management is aware the family lives there, as are others who rent space at the facility.

"No one can get in and no one can get out without the remote," Charlomane Leonard, a stay-at-home mom, said as she pointed to the automatic gate at the front entry.

The couple said they have done their best to turn the shed into a suitable living environment for their children — Sabrina, 12; Prince Leonard II, 10; Raheem, 8; Saleem, who turns 7 today; Abdullah, 4; and 2-year-old Jamil.

Prince Leonard built all the shelving and a makeshift loft. There's a refrigerator, an air conditioner and wood-burning heater. On land behind the storage units, the children and their mother plant a garden every summer, harvesting squash, tomatoes, okra and peppers.

Lacking in the shed is running water, but Prince Leonard fills a 55-gallon barrel daily from a spigot at the end of the storage lot so the family can take baths. They fill jugs of drinking water at grocery stores and use a "compost" toilet, Charlomane Leonard said.

Plan to rent a house
The older children are enrolled at Texas Connections Academy, a Houston Independent School District online school. The shed is also furnished with two computers, one on loan from the school, Charlomane Leonard said.

The couple said none of their children has ever gotten less than a B in school, and they hope all of them can attend college.

"That just speaks volumes about the kind of people we are," Prince Leonard said. Around the time they moved into the shed, the couple were able to buy land in Liberty County where they planned to build a home.

They've had troubles getting a loan to build the home while also paying for the land. Now, they will use the money to rent a house.

"We were building ourselves up and trying to get out of the hole," Prince Leonard said. "That's their (children's) future we've been working hard for."

Cop KillsEx-NFL Player Deacon Turner

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.— Life in Bakersfield after a brief NFL stint had not been kind to running back David Lee “Deacon” Turner.
After at least two dozen run-ins with the law, Turner, 56, was shot and killed in front of a convenience store Sunday by a Kern County deputy after he allegedly hit an officer with a bag holding two cans of beer.
“He was a marvelous kid,” Bakersfield College coach Gerry Collins told The Bakersfield Californian. Turner had played with the Cincinnati Bengals.
As a student-athlete, Turner thrived, shredding defenses at Shafter High School, Bakersfield College and San Diego State University. But as an adult, after playing in the NFL from 1978 to 1980, he had trouble finding his place in civilian life.
Court records show an arrest history stretching back to 1986 for the former running back and kick return specialist. The most recent, on June 17, was for driving while his license was revoked because of a conviction for driving under the influence.
On Sunday, deputies were investigating reports of teenagers asking adults to buy alcohol and cigarettes. The deputies approached Turner as he left the store with his 19-year-old son and a 16-year-old juvenile whom authorities have not identified.
The deputies detained Turner while they investigated. According to reports from the sheriff’s office, Turner initially complied with deputies but then decided to leave.
Deputies said a scuffle occurred when they tried to stop Turner. Deputy Aaron Nadal was hit on the back of the head with a bag holding two, 24-ounce cans of beer before Deputy Wesley Kraft drew his handgun and fired twice at Turner, authorities said.
Friends and family told the newspaper they have trouble believing authorities’ account of the story. Coach Collins said, “The deputy must have provoked him.” Nephew Kevin Turner called his uncle “the backbone of our family.”
Sheriff Donny Youngblood said department investigators were getting tapes from video cameras at the store to see if the incident was recorded. He said the investigation won’t be quick, and he will review the results. He said he has purposely not researched Turner’s criminal background.
“I want to look at it with an open and objective mind,” Youngblood said. “Having a record is a tiny piece of the puzzle, but not a significant piece.”
He declined to comment about the investigation directly. The department issued a release saying Nadal was treated and released at a hospital. Officials have not described the nature of his injury.
Kraft is on administrative leave while sheriff’s detectives investigate the shooting.
In 1979, Turner tied for the league lead in kick returns with 55. The same year he was second in rushing yards with 1,149.
“Pound for pound he was as strong as anyone on the time,” former teammate and radio analyst Dave Lapham told Cincinnati.com.

Hope, Change and Morality: Fading Fast

By Opio Sokoni, J.D.

A child is going to say her prayers and while she is counting sheep or goats or camels, a bomb is going to make the loudest noise she has ever heard. Nights before, the bombs may have not been as loud. They hit other areas; but not this time. This poor little girl will probably live disfigured for the rest of her life. The next morning, she is going to find out that many of her friends lay at the bottom of rubble. Some alive and some will die - lucky enough to escape the horrible pain. The voice of right and reason will be too soft to hear. No one can save the children of a small country from the damaging might of the powerful. Just a few years ago, people in that village heard beautiful speeches from the man who orders the bombs. They thought that when he took over as president he would bring light to the darkness. But now they get to feel the power of tricks. Politics as usual this time includes their destruction. There is no more hope for the father who is running down the streets with his badly battered little girl.

The people who would have once spoke out against this are still on the honey moon that made history. The idea of the first African American president is too big to fail. The resolve to speak out against your brother in power is weakened by the adoration. But to know about the senseless bloodshed usually strengthens the decent person to speak out. The harm that is produced by the decision of Barack Obama to bomb Libya is as powerful as the silence of the groups that usually screams the clarion call against human rights abuses. The verses, “study to show yourself approved” and “harden not your heart” are useless verses in such a climate. Furthermore, the problem with speaking out about it now, after such a long delay, is that the morality is no longer there. Libya has said that it wants to talk – more bombs. It says that it wants to negotiate – more bombs. They say they want to have free and open elections and still more bombs. It reminds me of a story I saw on television few years ago.

A teenage girl was working in a drive through window of a McDonalds. An officer comes through and makes an order. He is served and is on his merry way. A few minutes later, the cop pulls up to the window again. But this time he is angry. He tells the girl that he got short-changed a few dollars. The girl rechecks and tells him he is mistaken. The powerful officer begins yelling at the girl to give him his change. She gets into an argument that many of us have gotten into when our orders are messed up. The officer gets mad and comes into the fast food place – badge on his chest and gun on his waist. He tells the girl to come with him. She refuses and tells him that she wants to call her mother. She is a minor. He refuses to allow her to make the call. Her manager is powerless to help her. The cop and the girl are both heated. However, the big officer, his hands shaking mad, pulls out his can of mace. He sprays the girl in the face. She lets out blood curdling screams and now begins to plead for mercy. The officer then drags her out of the restaurant saying to her, “No, it’s too late.” It probably doesn’t matter that the girl was black and the officer was white. Just as it probably matters even less that Obama is black and Libya is an African country. However, children bearing the harm of senseless power do matter. Is it right to continue to rain down force on someone who pleads to the contrary?

The problem with those who will support this action is that there will be another president in power one day. This president may be as hated as W. Bush – give or take a few centrists. They will not have the passion to speak out against an unjust, unprovoked attack on another country. Passion dies when a person has gone down the wrong road for too long. Moral outrage is placed on auto check when a person decides to support wrong-headed politics for loyalty sake. So, we toughen up and refuse to make the right decision in the face of clear wrong. We remain happily vague and/or ignorant. NATO is powerful. And, what the average person must come to terms with is the question of being wrong. What if we are wrong? The world knows that nothing will happen to correct this wrong. No one will bring charges against the U.N. for crimes against humanity. Only leaders of small, powerless countries that find themselves in conflict with the U.S. and NATO get to go before the world court. Nothing happens to the powerful countries that breaks laws. They only answer to those of us who make them powerful. Too many good people, however, got it wrong this time. This means that more innocent children will die and the bulk of the justifications will come from human rights activists and progressives. This is a sad day – but who cares? We won’t see the mangled little bodies in the so-called free and independent U.S. press. And, the Reagan conservatives are agreeable to these types of brutal acts.

At the end of the program that showed the story about the fast food worker and the cop, we find out that the little girl did not short change the officer after all. And, nothing was legally done to the abusive officer involved. The high school student had no good people to come to her aid – before or after the abuse. Libya’s children may be in the same boat.

Is race a factor in LeBron vs. Dirk face off?

Nearly one year ago LeBron James told the world after shunning the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat that he would accept the role of villain that has been placed upon him, courtesy of an ad by Nike.

As the NBA Finals begin tonight, millions will gather around their televisions in anticipation of seeing James and his posse get what's coming to them. James along with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh have dealt with the upstart 76ers, the aging Celtics and MVP Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls in that order. In order to win his first NBA title James must get past the Dallas Mavericks led by sharpshooter Dirk Nowitzki whose performances in these playoffs has evoked the memory of Larry Bird given Nowitzki exceptional shooting ability.

So what angle will the mainstream media seek out in this series?

Will it seek out to paint Nowitzki as the anti-LeBron -- a player who has become a fixture in Dallas community for 13 seasons. Despite the possibility of free agency, he remained loyal to the Mavericks and is in a position to win bring Dallas their first basketball championship. Despite being on great regular season teams that turned out to be even greater playoff disappointments, Nowitzki has become somewhat of a sentimental favorite since sweeping Kobe Bryant and the Lakers and defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder with the NBA's best young player in Kevin Durant.

Imagine the media crush that would shower over Dirk and the Mavericks if they could dispose of James and the Heat?

Could there be a racial motivation for the press to sway in the direction of Nowitzki and the Mavericks? After all the NBA has been dominated by black superstars and Nowitzki is the first white superstar in the Finals of note since...Larry Bird. It's been a generation since Bird won his last title in Boston and was in fact the last white player to win the Finals MVP. So there is a motivating factor here.

Add to the mix that the majority of anyone you speak with regardless of color has some hint of resentment towards James for the way that he handled things last summer and you have the makings for your classic "Good vs. Evil" match up. Negative comments from ex-greats like Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson have only fanned the flames of hate in the direction of James and the Heat. In retrospect, was there any wrongdoing on the part of James? Who followed the NBA's free agent infrastructure guidelines and no tampering was founded.

And while "The Decision" show may have been a little over the top, the same can be said for the reaction of Cleveland Cavaliers' owner Dan Gilbert labeling James' move as "narcissistic" and a "cowardly betrayal" as well as some Cavalier fans burning James #23 Cavs jersey in effigy.

Never has the media been more critical of one team in any given season than the 2010-2011 Miami Heat. In the midst of a mid-season slump that included a sound defeat at the hands of the Bulls, the press was almost taunting in their questioning.

Reports of members of the Heat crying provided fodder for late night talk hosts as well as headlines on ESPN. Any Heat loss was met with a foot to the ribs. After the Miami Heat defeated the Celtics in five games in the second round, James and his teammates spoke glowingly of clearing a hurdle needed to be considered title contenders only to be deemed arrogant and cocky.

The Heat find themselves -in a no-win situation -- losing to the Mavericks increases scrutiny and victory will increase the antagonists. While the Mavericks are sitting in a pretty good position in terms of being on a low flame in a high pressure situation, everyone knows the pressure is on the Heat -- and the Heat know as well.

The mainstream press has a way of painting distorted pictures of real situations, particularly in sports (see Duke vs. UNLV 1990), this is one of those times. LeBron James is anything but a bad guy and that assessment by some to imply that is unfair. There are no heroes or villains in this series, just basketball players -- pretty darn good ones, and whoever leaves with the Larry O'Brien trophy will have deserved it.
